The advanced search allows for more precise queries. Terms can be combined using AND, OR, or NOT. 

It also provides options to limit results by resource type, language, or publication date.

In this example, the search is limited to books that contain “mountain railway” in the title and “Switzerland” as a subject.

Using the second drop-down menu, you can select “contains”, “contains (exact)”, or “starts with (Title)” to specify how the search terms should be matched: whether they should appear anywhere in the field, match the terms exactly, or appear at the beginning of the title.
