The error User with identifier (matriculation number) of type already exists appears because an account linked to the matriculation number shown in the message already exists in SWITCH edu-ID/swisscovery.

This is usually due to a previous registration, for example from earlier studies.

If you still remember the email address associated with this account, you can log in and update your details via Switch edu-ID. If the email address is no longer active, you can try logging in by adding “.inactive” to the end of it.
